Who are you?

I am a documentary photographer, writer, and homeschool mom of two. Jokingly I call myself a kitchen witch – always setting intentions, love and energy into the food I create in my kitchen. I am deeply spiritual, connecting with mother earth and nature, and infusing my connection to spirit in my artistry.

What is your creative process?

Ultimately I found myself craving something outside of becoming a mother at twenty-three (six years ago). It was a way for me to find a sense of being, and it morphed into understanding my creativity, my own artistry and paving my own path as an artist.

Where do you turn for inspiration?

Books, always books. I read as much as I can whether it’s for personal development, women's history and culture, or fantasy fiction! Cinema also inspires me a lot, mostly in the perception of everyone’s imagination and stories and how they make people feel.

What drew you to photography as an art form?

Ultimately I found myself craving something outside of becoming a mother at twenty-three (six years ago). It was a way for me to find a sense of being, and it morphed into understanding my creativity, my own artistry and paving my own path as an artist.

Has there been a particular challenge you’ve faced in your business?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced is paving my own path, as a photographer. Leaning into work that inspires me even if it doesn’t make sense to those around me, or book out as easily as others in my local area. I feel like I have a more editorial/documentary style (the opposite of traditional type photography) that is more sought after in my area.

Do you have a favorite success story or client moment that stands out?

My greatest moments are when I work with couples on their wedding day, and we slowly connect even deeper, mostly because we’re spending the entire day together. By the end of the night it’s the deep gratitude and long hugs that mean the most to me.

How do you navigate work-life balance as a business owner?

As a mom it can be challenging, but I always try to make sure I can get at least ten to fifteen minutes of “me” time each day, whether it’s a short meditation or journaling session. I feel like being an artist is such an ebb and flow of inspiration, that depending on my season of life I’m more likely to lean into my work, where others I leave my work to breathe while I sit in a liminal space.

What does a day in your studio look like at the moment?

Most of the time I’m working in small spurts (1-2) hours after homeschool lessons/morning learning, during my youngest child’s nap. My windows face out to our pond and I’m always hearing the birds chirping or the bugs buzzing. On my desk you’ll find many journals, and poetry books checked out from my local library.

When do you feel most yourself? What brings you joy?

I feel most myself when I’m following joy, whether that’s through dance, gardening, spending time with my family.

What are you currently enjoying (reading, listening to, or watching)?

Currently I dance at a studio (i grew up dancing) and it’s been a liberating experience to dance as an adult after having two kids. My other passions are cooking, and spending time outdoors.

What is something you hope to inspire in others through your work?

My biggest hope in life is that through my writing others can feel seen and heard, to know they aren’t alone. Through photos my biggest hope is to provide a tangible feeling of legacy.

What’s next for your business? Are there new directions or ideas you’re exploring?

While I sit in a slow season of business I’ve been writing more, publishing my poems and short stories to substack. While also launching digital products (templates and guides) for spirited and soulful photographers.
