If you’ve ever designed a section in Squarespace that you loved, but didn’t want to manually recreate it on another page, then you need to know about Squarespace Saved Sections. They allow you to save a section and reuse it anywhere on your Squarespace website, without the need to rebuild or reconfigure it. This means you can create your own library of styled sections to pull from whenever you want to add new content to a page.
As Squarespace designers, this is one of our favorite features because it speeds up our design process, and means we can create a custom library of sections to handover to clients so they can add new content themselves in the future.

What Are Squarespace Saved Sections?
Saved Sections are a Squarespace 7.1* feature that lets you save a copy of a section and reuse it across your site.
You can use them to build branded call-to-actions, testimonial sections, FAQ sections, and add them to other pages without needing to rebuild them.
Why Should You Use Saved Sections?
Here are a few reasons why we love Squarespace Saved Sections:
Time-Saving
If you’ve spent time styling an element, like a List Section or Accordion Block, you don’t want to re-add all the design styling each time you want to use that section or block. With Saved Sections, you can copy the styled element into another page without needing to set it up again.
Consistency
Each time you add a Saved Section, it keeps the same layouts, spacing, and sizing, so you can keep your design elements consistent across different pages. Each saved layout can be edited independently, and you can always return to the original saved version if you make changes to any copied sections.
Branding
You can use them to create a personalized library of styled sections that fit your branding. This is helpful if you find yourself getting stuck when designing new pages, as it can be a useful source of inspiration for branded sections.
How to Save a Section
Let’s explore how to save a section in Squarespace:
Edit Section
Start by navigating to the page that contains the section you’d like to save, and enter Edit Mode by selecting the Edit button in the top left-hand corner.
Next, hover over the section you want to save until you see the section toolbar appear:
Select the Heart Icon
Look for the heart icon in the toolbar, and press it to save the section:
The section will now be saved to your library of Saved Sections.
How to Use a Saved Section
The next step is to use your Saved Section by adding it to a different page.
Start by navigating to the page where you’d like to add the section and enter Edit Mode, and hover over the page until you see the Add Section button:
Open the Saved Section Tab
In the Add a Section area, choose the Saved tab. You’ll see all your Saved Sections ready for use. You can also rename them to stay organized.
How to Edit a Saved Section
Once you’ve added a Saved Section, you can edit it like any other section on your site.
Changes you make to a Saved Section on the page won’t automatically update the version you saved in your library. The saved version will stay as it is, and each Saved Section can be edited independently.
Ways to Use Squarespace Saved Sections
Here’s a few ways we like to use Saved Sections in our design process:
Testimonial Sections
Testimonials can take a while to build out. First you need to add all the testimonial content, then style the section or slider. Saving a testimonial section makes it much easier to reuse on multiple service or product pages.
Newsletter Forms
If you run a newsletter and want to share your newsletter sign up on multiple pages, like on the Home page and Offerings pages, saving a section that contains your Newsletter Block means you don’t need to redesign it. Form storage connections don’t carry over, so you’ll need to reconnect your storage after adding the saved newsletter block.
Contact Forms
After adding the content you’d like to see in your contact form, you can save the section to reuse. This is particularly useful if you have complex forms with conditional logic. You can set up the essentials on one page, save a copy, then add it to another page (like a related services page) and make tweaks.
FAQs and Info
If there are particular FAQs or pieces of information that you know you’d like to share on multiple product or service pages, you can add them to your Saved Sections.
Seasonal Content
Saved Sections can also be useful for content that you want stored for later but don’t want to display all the time. Seasonal or time-sensitive content can be saved for when it’s ready to use, and be re-used next year.
As a Designer
If you’re a Squarespace designer, Saved Sections are useful for you as well as your clients. As you build sections on your client sites, save them for the client to re-use in the future, making the site easier for them to manage.
Saved Section Limitations
250 Sections
Squarespace caps your library at 250 Saved Sections. This tends to be plenty, and you can always delete old ones to make room for more. Just be aware that your Saved Sections aren’t unlimited.
Site-Limited
You can’t use Saved Sections to move content between sites. They can only be moved within your own site unless you’re a Squarespace Circle member, which allows you to save sections to your account.
Functionality
There are some areas where Saved Sections can’t be used, like in blog posts (which still use the old Squarespace 7.0 editor) and checkout pages.
FAQs
How many sections can I save?
You can currently save up to 250 sections on your site.
How many sections can I use on a page?
Squarespace recommends no more than 20 sections on a page.
Are Saved Sections included in all Squarespace plans?

What’s the difference between saving and duplicating a section?
